Our manufacturers produce engineering plastics that are slightly oversized in either diameter and/or thickness. This oversize tolerance, which is listed in the tables below, is provided to assist customers to produce very accurate items within the size shown and remove any minor surface imperfections.

Advantages over Nylon 66 rod:
- Greater product availability
- Greater size range, better size availability range for both natural and black
- Better in terms of impact resistance being able to absorb shock and impact minorly better than Nylon 66 rod
- Nylon 6 rod is also more economical in p
There are two manufacturing processes used for Nylon 6:
- Extruded Nylon 6 - extruded Nylon 6 is chosen in the smaller size range (upto 100mm diameter), it is extruded through steel dies at high pressure to create the rod which can lead to a small amount of internal stress within the material which may be important
- Cast Nylon 6 - cast Nylon 6 is popular in the larger size range (over 100mm diameter), it is cast pound into moulds and allowed to cure, therefore cast nylon 6 will have less internal stress but because the process is more involved it cost more
Summary:
This material has a great wear and abrasion resistance and is well suited to machining purposes. It has a high mechanical strength and good sliding properties. In addition Nylon 6 is stiff, has good creep stability and is resistant to many oils and chemicals. The black Nylon rod has MOS2 graphite type self lubricant which is effective is reducing stress caused by machining.
