Technical:

Standard designs of SKF cylindrical roller bearings:

The rollers in a single row cylindrical roller bearing are always guided between the integral open flanges on one of the rings.

These open flanges on the cylindrical roller bearing combined with specially designed & surface finished bearing roller ends. This provides improved lubrication, reduced friction consequently lower operating temperature.

The ring with the integral flanges together with the cylindrical roller & cage assembly can be separated from the outer ring.  This results in easy mounting & dismounting, particularly where the load conditions are such that interference fits are required for both rings.

SKF single row roller bearings can accommodate heavy radial loads & high speeds. They are manufacturerd in several different designs, the main difference being in configuration of the flanges.

SKF Cylindrical Roller Bearing Designs:

NU Designed Bearing - The outer ring of an NU design roller bearings has two integral flanges while the inner ring has no flanges. Axial displacement of the shaft in respect to the bearing housing can be accommodated in both directions.

NJ Designed Bearing - The outer ring of a SKF NJ design bearing has two integral flanges & the inner ring has one integral flange. The bearings can locate the shaft axially in one direction.

NUP Designed Bearing - The outer ring of an NUP design bearing has two integral flanges & the inner bearing ring has an integral flange & one non-integral flange in for of a loose bearing flange. These bearings can be used as locating bearings to locate the shaft axially in both directions.
