LBCD linear ball bearings are a variant of the LBCR bearing design. The key feature of this bearing is its self-aligning capability that accommodates tilting of the whole bearing through an angle of +30 minutes of arc. This tilting attribute compensates for misalignment, which may be caused by inaccuracies in fitting or manufacturing, or by considerable bending of an unsupported shaft. However, the self-aligning feature cannot compensate for two non-parallel shafts in assembly. The cage, seals and shields have been enhanced to accommodate the self aligning characteristic so that the bearing and mainly the shields or seals remain parallel with the shaft. All other characteristics of the LBCR linear bearings are also valid for the self-aligning LBCD design. LBCD linear bearings must always be securely fixed in the axial direction.
